Our Sorority
Nu Kappa Epsilon was founded on August 25, 1994 at the College of William and Mary. The founding sisters felt that there was something missing in the music community. Although NKE is not a social sorority nor connected to any professional music organizations, it considers itself a sisterhood, providing a place for women with a genuine love for music to connect and flourish. Each NKE chapter supports its own philanthropy and promotes the use of music to improve and empower day-to-day life. Since its establishment at the College of William and Mary, Christopher Newport University formed the Beta chapter on March 14, 2005. CNU's chapter is notorious for being a close-knit organization, created for women to interact with all others interested in music on campus and beyond. Our sorority flower is the white rose, and our colors are hunter green and burgundy.

Philanthropy
Nu Kappa Epsilon's Beta chapter aims to support the community through music. Annually, NKE hosts a retreat with Alpha chapter, Open Mic Night, our Rose Ball formal, and events for both Relay for Life and Out of the Darkness. Our past and current philanthropies have incorporated our love for music and each other. NKE also serves Christopher Newport University and our local community through fundraising events and other volunteer opportunities. These service events include but are not limited to:
Out of the Darkness Walk
Fundraiser walk for suicide prevention education
A non-profit organization which delivers guitars
and lessons to less fortunate kids
Fundraiser walk for American Cancer Society
Writing letters and making crafts to send to
our deployed military men and women
- NuKapp's current philanthropy -
Non-profit group which brings musicians year round
to hospitals, special needs kids camps, and all
places where kids are in need
Our Purpose
Nu Kappa Epsilon was established to promote the
growth and development of musical activities and appreciation on campus and in the community where chapters have been formed and to develop in the members the best qualities of character through music.
